Maintaining a healthy microbiome is essential for human health, but researchers don't yet have a good way to measure or test the microbiome. A new study may have found a way to do just that, however.
The study, which was published in the journal mBio, used artificial intelligence (AI) to analyze the DNA of gut bacteria. The AI system was able to correctly identify organisms in the gut 70 percent of the time.
While the accuracy of the AI system still needs to be improved, the study could lead to better ways to test and maintain a healthy microbiome.
